Chapter 12

Vocabulary:

  • Stick out-resaltar  "I think this new statue stick out too much" 
  • Pain -pena, dolor: he sensation of acute physical hurt or discomfort caused by injury, illness. "this illness causes terribol pains"
  • Blame-culpa: responsibility for something that is wrong or deserving censure; culpability. "I blame the actual government about all this situation"

Summary:

In this chapter the father of Adrian at least get a work, but Adrian had love problems with Pandora, because Adrian fall in love with other girl but in the end he solve his love problems.

Chapter 11

Vocabulary:


  • Rehearsal-ensallo:  a session of practising a play, concert, speech etc, in preparation for public performance the act of reciting. "the actor rehearsal many times but he fail in public " 
  • Bookmark- marcapaguinas:  Also called: bookmarker a strip or band of some material, such as leather or ribbon, put between the pages of a book to mark a place. "I lost the bookmarker, now I don´t know the page I was reading"
  • Faithful-fiel.  having faith; remaining true, constant, or loyal. "The dog was very faithful."

Summary: 

In this chapter the Adrian's mother return home because Mr.Lucas treated her like a sex object. Adrian have a race bike for Christmas  and he have new resolutions for the new year like be faithful to Pandora study hard clean the bath and don´t leave the bike outside.

Chapter 10

Vocabulary:


  • Hell-infierno: he place or state of eternal punishment of the wicked after death, with Satan as its ruler. "If you do bad things you'll stay in the hell"
  • Bled to death-morir desangrado. "In the war many people bled to death"


Summary:

In this chapter Adrian goes to a survival trip, this trip was terrible for him goodness it was only two days, Adrian receive a letter from the hospital saying  he had an operation of tonsillitis, at the end the nurses had to oust out  of the hospital ,then of this he goes to to bonfire party.in the end of the chapter The mum of Adrian send this telegram: "ADRIAN STOP COMING HOME STOP"

Chapter 9

 Vocabulary:


  • Banging-golpear: a short loud explosive noise, as of the bursting of a balloon or the report of a gun. "The balloon make a strange noise it's like a bang"
  • Shrinking-encogerse: to become or cause to become smaller in size. " The sweater had shrinking"
  • Compliment-cumplido: a remark or act expressing respect, admiration, etc "All people says good things about this man but I think he's an ignorant person."
  • Complaining-quejarse: to express resentment, displeasure, etc. "He's all the time complaining about everything"

Summary:

In this chapter happens  a lot of things Pandora goes to Tunisia, and Adrian returns to the school and his father have to buy a new uniform, it cost 200€, Adrian wake up with terrible spots and he avoided Pandora but she said that this it isn't important for her love.

Chapter 8

Vocabulary:


  • Proof-prueba : any evidence that establishes or helps to establish the truth, validity. "there aren't any proof to say that I'm guilty"
  • Tonsillitis- amigdalitis, anginas: inflammation of the palatine tonsils. "went I was a child I had tonsillitis"
  • Breast-pecho: the front part of the body from the neck to the abdomen.

Summary:

In this chapter Barry Kent  devolve all the money to Adrian, and Adrian and Pandora are getting out and the end Adrian have tonsillitis.

Chapter 7

Vocabulary:

  • Ashamed-avergonzado: suffering from feelings of inferiority or shame in relation to
    a person "I feel very ashamed, it doesn't happen more"
  • Feeds-alimentar: to give food to " You have to feed all the dogs in the doghouse" ¡
  • Headmaster-director: a male principal of a school "the headmaster ask for you"
  • Kennel-caseta de perro o perrera:  a hutlike shelter for a dog US name: doghouse. "the dangerous dog 'll be in the kennel tomorrow".
  • Candle wax-cera de vela: "take care of the candle wax"

Summary: 

In this chapter Adrian and his father  don¡t have electricity because they don't have money to pay for it, Adrian went to visit his mother in Sheffield  and his father have look for other girl called Doreen.

Chapter 6

Vocabulary:


  • Affair-aventura:   a sexual relationship between two people who are not married to each other. "She had an affair with the mayor" 
  • Book token- vale de compra por un libro. "I can give you a book token if you don't know what book you want now"
  • Shilling- Chelin: a former British and Australian silver or cupronickel coin worth one  twentieth of a pound. "Can you lend me thirty shillings?" 
  • Shaving razor-cuchilla de afeitar: "Can you give me this shaving razor please?" 
  • Telly-televisión. I saw the telly 3 hours a day.

Summary: 

In this chapter the Adrian's mother leave home with Mr Lucas and is the Adrian's birthday too, he goes to Nigel house to sleep and see that he has more in his bed room  than all in his hause.

Chapter 5

Vocabulary:
  • Spare room- habitación de invitados.  "This night you'll sleep in the spare room."
  •  Set off- antes de partir: to leave, to begin, a journey or trip. "He set off in search better opportunities"

Summary:

In this chapter  the parents of Adrian tell their child that they are getting divorced,also Adrian have a terrible acne and he have to do the washing up of Bert, he also realizes that his mother is dating Mr Lucas and a great joy happen Nigel and Pandora have broken up.

Chapter 4

Vocabulary.


  • Lounge-salon: 1. a communal room in a hotel, ship, theatre, etc, used for waiting or relaxing in. 2.a living room in a private house " I like to stay in the l  lounge"
  • Delivering-entregar, repartir: Deliver: to carry to a destination, esp to carry and distribute. "Have you given all the boxes to their owners?"
  • Wealthy- rico: possessing wealth; affluent; rich. "this is a wealthy city all the people who lives there are rich"  
  • Complained-quejarse: Complain:  to express resentment, displeasure, etc, esp habitually; grumble. "he is all the time complaining about the institute"
  • Fond- aficcionado, cariñoso: loving; tender. " I have fond to this teddy"
  • Punctured- pinchar, perforar:  a small hole made by a sharp object. "This boy punctured mi float"

Summary:

In this character Adrian starts to work  like a paper boy but he have to give the half to Barry Kent, we can saw too that the mother of Adrian want to live with Mr Lucas and leave Adrian's father, he reads for first time Big and Bouncy and he have problems in the school because the dog followed to the school.

Chapter 3

Vocabulary:
  • Thoughtful-cosiderado:considerate in the treatment of other people  "this person seems thoughtful."
  • Heating-calefación: a device or system for supplying heat, esp central heating, to a building "the heating don't work well."
  • Stuck-pegado, atrapado: he past tense and past participle of stick  "he was stuck in the bathroom."
  • Gravy-salsa: the juices that exude from meat during cooking "my mom makes a wonderful gravy."
  • Pain-dolor: the sensation of acute physical hurt or discomfort caused by injury, illness, etc "this terrible pain will end with me"   
Summary:
In this character Adrian wonders who give this year valentine's day card, we can see too that  the relationship  between his parents is worse, Adrian continue visiting Bert Baxter, and he was bullied by Barry Kent, finally gave  the Valentine's card to Pandora, but he dot receive any cards.

  • Sick-enfermo mareado: 1. inclined or likely to vomit 2. suffering from ill health. "you 'll feel sick if you eat this  mushroom."
  • Mood-humor: a temporary state of mind or temper. "these days you're having a bad mood."
  • Treacle-miel: Also called: black treacle, a dark viscous syrup obtained during the refining of sugar.
  • Run over-atropellar. "while riding a bike a car almost run over me."
  • Lorry-camión: a large motor vehicle designed to carry heavy loads, esp one with a flat platform. "while riding a bike a car almost"
  • Sickbed-lecho de enfermo. "I want to leave this terrible illness and the sickbed."
             Summary
This character told how Adrian's mother have a a job and how Adrian is not agree with this and see this selfish, it told too how he met Mr Baxter and  an old man who has to look after. and saw how his best friend go out with his love Pandora.

Chapter 1



  • In this chapter there introduce Adrian Mole, Adrian's Mother, Adrian's father, Adrian's Dog, Nigel, Mr Lucas, and Pandora and the bully Barry Kent.
  • Personal opinion: I think Adrian is a boy with problems but a little innocent and ignorant.
Summary:
this is the  first character in Adrian's Mole diary, this character explain you the live of Adrian the promises of the year of Adrian like , help old and poor people by nice with the dog ... we saw too the problems in the Adrian's family. 

Vocabulary:

Biography of Sue Townsend




Sue Townsend born 2 April 1946 is an English writer, she was known as the author of Adrian Mole This books get together comedy and commentary on society.

Sue was born in Leicester, she fail her 11-Plus exam and she left school at the age of 15, then she work in lot of things, in a factory, like a shop assistant etc. She married with sheet-metal worker, and they have four children: Sean, Daniel, Victoria and Elizabeth.
She joined in a group of writers in the Phoenix theatre at the age of  thirty.

She write the Adrian Mole books based on his sons experiences, then one Adrian Mole book,The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole, was televised.


She became blind, by diabetes, in 2001, the 25 February 2009 Leicester gave Sue the Honorary Freedom of Leicester, and In September 2009, she received a kidney from her son, Seam, after a 2-year wait for a donor.




This is the first chapter of the secret diary of Adrian mole.

How much time do you spend doing your favourite hobbies?

I think I don't spend too much time in my hobbies I spend  one hour per day watching things on YouTube or playing to video games but there are some days I watch too much videos or I play too much to a new video game. but at all I think I'm below average in spending time in my hobbies.

What do you do in your free time?


  • In my free time I usually go out with my friends, at least once a week. we go to a park and we talk while we play cards or we walk through the park. 
  • I like too, listen to music. I listen to music every day, I like specially rock and pop music but I listen all type of music.
  •  I like canoeing but I don't practice a lot this sport because I don't have a canoe, but in summer I go to the river Sella in Asturias to practise this sport.
